What Has Come to Our World

Published by christi on

Whichever news source you read or hear, there is news better than we know! And no matter how well we “know” it, there is always more to learn and explore.

I am speaking of the good news for all people. This news is so hard for us to grasp that many have given up trying, reduced it to children’s rhymes, and buried it in sugar and spending.

A rescue has been undertaken greater than that of the Chilean miners, more daring than the firemen rushing into the burning towers on 9/11. It is the rescue of the human race! Without this tiny infant, all of us would be condemned to a fearful, dreadful forever… alone… apart from the one Source of Joy in the universe.

Sometimes an acrostic helps me to explore an idea…so here are a few lines about what has come to our world through the events of that first Christmas.

Advent: the Almighty (almost apparent) approaches

Bounteous Benevolence in a blanket

Content to be cared for, He calms our cravings.

Descendant of David descends to the depths to draw us to Him.

Eyes-that-see-all explore every edge of our existence, learn to…

…Focus on faces.

Glorious God gives grace, gains generations.

Hearts’ Home humbly makes His home in the humble heart.

What a power, what a gift has come to our world!

God With Us has come to rescue a desperately imperilled people for Himself!

Not by a show of force, but by a display of sacrifice unimaginable!

Take some time these next few days to quietly contemplate what lies before you, indeed before all the powers of His enemies, helpless but in contented trust in the Father’s plan and care.

This is the Jesus I am following every day in the everyday! Join me! Write your own acrostic or add some to mine! Explore this wonder that has come to our world.
