The Scepter
Recently an old friend asked for the words of an old song. I had to dredge my memory for the words, since my only partial copy of them is 90 miles away! Searching the dusty vaults of my mind, I found them, still vital and vivid, but perhaps requiring a bit of explanation.
Shiloh is a Hebrew word, used by Jacob/Israel in his death-bed blessing of his son Judah, who would be the ancestor of King David, and finally, of Jesus Christ. It means tranquility or peace-giver. It is widely understood to refer to Jesus, and in the context of the verse it can be translated: him to whom the scepter [rightfully] belongs. (See Genesis 49:10)
Zephyr is a soft, gentle breeze, as contrasted with the picture in the Psalms of God riding the storm winds. (Psalm 104:3)

O Shiloh, the scepter of the universe is in Your hand.
O Shiloh, the pattern of the stars would change at Your command.
O Shiloh, rule within my heart as in Your firmament.
O Shiloh, bring Your peace to everything I do.
Of time and tide, You are the Master;

Your spoke creation and the stars replied!

Beyond debate, we hold the places that You designate.

I encourage you to ponder these words and embrace them as I have) as my prayer of surrender, and my plea for peace as I am
