Snippets of Everyday Prayers

Leafing through my journal, I found nothing deep or even noteworthy to write about, but this was never meant to be a showplace for glorious victories, just the exploration of what happens to an everyday Jesus follower…and how she responds. So, here goes…

Good morning, Papa, thank you for bringing some relief from the pain in response to a brother’s prayer for me yesterday! Thanks for a nice time of remembering Your goodness and faithfulness last night… Please give us what we need to encourage and protect those under our roof and our care.

–Yes, Papa, help me to fix my eyes today on Your ways, Your laws, kept perfectly by Jesus:  Your ways perfectly lived out by Him, including Your way of sacrifice for the good of others. Jesus, You perfectly and completely embody all the heart and intention of the Father. Let me meditate on Your ways today.

–How hard are the words You spoke through Ezekiel! How deep Your grief over Your people! and how great Your wrath because of all their rebellion in the face of Your love and provision! O Jesus, thank You for taking the wrath of God on Yourself that was due us. O Papa, thank You for putting a new heart in us who come to You so that we CAN obey and draw close to You.

–I am feeling my failures pretty deeply this morning. I bring them to You, Jesus, for You to wash clean.

The decision to not jump up, put stuff down and serve someone was a selfish, calculated one, a “but I just got my plate” whine kind of choice. I didn’t even really want to be there at all. I’m kind of done. Stuff here at the so-called “House of Hope and Healing” is not so hopeful, nor healing. All there is comes from You anyhow. I am not so hopeful, and I have no power to heal. I am among the wounded, desperate who need You. Thanks for the help yesterday. Please give me what I need, both vision and courage. Changes need to come, but in what shape and time?…I know You care about things like these, so please lead me, and hold me up. I feel kind of “unstuffed” right now.

–By Your power, make me a doer of the word!
