Revealer of Mysteries

“…Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.” — Daniel 2:47
These words spoken by Nebuchadnezzar to Daniel after the revelation of the king’s disturbing dream and its meaning are directly applicable to us…to me.
It is not so much that God gives understanding of puzzling dreams and troubling behaviors of others, though He does that, too, but rather it is that He reveals the things that are hidden to us, even in our own hearts, both lovely and reprehensible.
The wonderful news is that God knows everything that is in our hearts and it doesn’t change His attitude toward us, His love for us nor His care for us.
When I discover something in my mind or heart that I was unaware of, the only one surprised is me! The people around me have already experienced whatever operational “truth” I live in. If I have hostility or fear that operates in my subconscious, my husband deals with that, even if I cannot yet see it and he cannot name it. My heavenly Father already knows everything there is to know — past, present and future — about me. He did not choose me because there was something especially winsome or lovely about me, but because there is something wonderfully winsome and lovely about Him!
Because He is enduringly loving while being completely knowledgeable, He is always beholding me covered with the perfect goodness of Jesus and me as a work in progress, and declaring good things about me that I do not yet perceive while pointing out aspects of my old nature that I have avoided seeing, and along with those, exposing more of the ways that He is demonstrating His strength in my weakness and His glory in my neediness.
This is the greatest mystery of all time and eternity: that the eternal God would sacrifice His own Son so that His own Spirit could inhabit the hearts of His creatures and make of them a people for Himself. This is a mystery revealed, and experienced, but still not understood, both compelling and consuming and worthy of all my attention. This is why I am…
Following Jesus every day in the everyday!
Christi
P.S. Let me know how you experience the great mystery of His unwavering love.
