Out for Maintenance

A thousand humble apologies! My website and I have both been unavailable due to maintenance.
The site has needed to be migrated to another hosting company. In the meantime, there are a lot of links that are not working. I can relate!
I have recently had a full knee replacement and I have a lot of links that are not working either. I told a dear friend that working with this new knee is like directing a show with an understudy in the main role. It may have the costume; it may know all the lines, but it suffers from a lot of miscues. I need to keep using it, but if I use it too much it swells up and stiffens so much that I can’t use it at all!
I thought I was doing pretty well. I felt pretty good. So I did a load of laundry, cleaned the bathroom and wiped up the floor. I vacuumed the living room and most of the rest of the house. And I had a four hour tutoring session plus a dress fitting.
Today I am reaping the consequences of my choices… my knee is so swollen it is hard to move it at all, and so sore and weak I have trouble trusting it.
One of the students In our youth group offered me a ride to the meeting tonight, but I had to turn her down because I just don’t have the stamina to go today. She offered to pray for me, which I gratefully accepted. I told her she needed to pray that I got some good sense into this old brain.
Sometimes following Jesus every day in the everyday is like this. I get a good idea – it might even be an idea from God — and I take it and run with it without bothering to check in with Papa-God, take a breather or evaluate what has happened so far. I need to learn pace…not so much from a humanistic viewpoint, but with heaven’s rhythm in my ears. The rhythm of sunrise and sunset, work and rest, silence and speech. Seasons for sowing, and seasons for reaping.
Our Papa-God is always working but never does everything all at once. He knows when, how much and where to work.
I have much to learn about
Following Jesus every day in the everyday,
Christi
