Following Jesus in the Everyday: Reboot

Spectacular God

I am so sorry!

The whole point of this blog is to give God glory by sharing with you His everyday work in my life every day. Instead, I have been looking for some spectacular story to tell…That’s no good. My life does not consist of spectacular events…just everyday me following our spectacular God.

Please forgive me for making this about me.

This week I needed to get my fur coats back.

(Yes, I have two fur coats… No, I didn’t buy them…They were given to me as “thank you’s” for loaning a costume…I gratefully added them to my costume stash.)

A couple of weeks ago, I had been asked to provide some “diva” props for a photo booth honoring a dear friend who is her own special kind of diva. So, besides sparkly stilettos and tiaras, nothing says “diva” like a fur coat, but my furs were out of town, having been used for a stage production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

(Yes, this is part of my everyday life. My sister teaches high school drama.)

I had forgotten to get the pieces together for the photo booth, and I was about to be out of time, so I messaged my sister about the possibility of getting them back by the weekend. I did not have time to go get them.

(Here comes the spectacular God part.)

My brother-in-law “happened” to be bringing my niece to the airport that evening! He brought my coats and a whole trunk-load of others!

Do you see what happened here? Our spectacular God prompted me to seek out the coats I needed at just the right time so that no one would have to make an extra 2-or 4-hour trip to make the delivery, (My sister lives two hours away.) and so I would have what was needed to help honor my friend. (Bonus: hugging my niece and brother-in-law. Insert happy dance here!)

I can’t even say that it was an answer my prayers…I don’t think I even prayed about it. It was not a reward for good behavior, but a little gift of grace from our spectacular God!

Let me know where you see Him at work this week.

Christi
