Another Invitation

“Come to Me, all of you who bear heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Following Jesus in the everyday includes the news. Where do I see the feet of Jesus ahead of me on the path that is mine today? What is He inviting me…and you…to do?
I listen to the news reports…Jesus, what do You hear in them?
I hear anger…Jesus hears pain. “I have borne your griefs and carried your sorrows. Bring your sadness to me. Let me be your Comfort.”
I hear despair…Jesus hears hopelessness.
“I have carried the weight of everything that weighs you down. I will restore all that has been destroyed. Let Me be your hope. ”
I hear bitterness…Jesus hears the cry of hearts long wounded, that were never tended.
“I am the One who binds up the broken-hearted. My blood so willingly shed has the power to heal every wound. Let Me be your Healer. ”
I hear cries for revenge…Jesus hears souls for whom justice has been denied.
“I am the Just Judge. My judgments are trustworthy; My verdicts are right. I have already been sentenced and executed for every crime and injustice ever committed against you. Let Me be your peace.”
I hear racism…Jesus hears the cry of the human race for value.
“I was born into a racially-divided world, treated as an annoyance, a nobody, a mentally ill person, a criminal, a threat, a vending machine, an object of abhorrence. In giving My life for you, I have stated beyond all doubt that you are a person of value! Let Me treasure you.”
May you hear His voice inviting you to let Him be all He is.
