An Invitation to Dance

A few days ago, our prayer ministry team was blessed with a brief day retreat in the pines and meadows of the Mogollon Rim country.
Turned loose for two whole hours to be quiet with Jesus near the softly chuckling creek, under the whispering walnuts, or in view of the shining pines…ahhhhh! Tears welled up as I recognized the gift we had been given, and how much I needed it. Thank You, Papa-God for this treasure!
Cool enough in the dappled oak-shade to want a sweatshirt, warm enough in the sun to feel its power, the breeze kissed my cheek like an invitation to dance. It was not strong enough to make the pines roar, but firm enough to catch my attention.
But if I am to dance, I must trade my mud-boots for satin slippers…
work – to do’s – concerns – distraction – fear – hurry – sorrow – judgment – responsibilities – failures – weight – the things that hold my feet to the earth…
One by one the dirt clods fall from my feet
Rest. I will give you rest.
A gentle breeze Your kiss,
An invitation to dance.
I am amazed at this,
But my boots are caked with mud…
And so, I can’t.
Come and rest. Come and dance with Me.
Come and rest.
I don’t know the steps.
Follow Me. Take My strong right hand.
I will lead.
We will dance.
There is a melody twined with the words. One more tender reminder to walk…or dance in complete dependence on Him. My heart is warmed and calmed.
He leads, with His strong right hand. I lay my hand in His. The dance is His. My heart is swept away to peace.
Take His strong right hand and let Him lead you through the dance that is today. I would love to hear how He led.
