Agreeing with David

Published by christi on

O LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy;

in Your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.

Do not bring Your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before You…

my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed.

Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You.

Show me the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul.

Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God;

may Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

(excerpted from Psalm 143)

This psalm is the cry of my heart! Dealing with grief, sadness, depression, inadequacy and weakness, failure and illness, I agree with David’s words, his heart-cry.

There is so much to do today, and more that is not scheduled or even listed on my to-do list! And my heart is already dismayed. Yes, I agree! O God, lead me on level ground, and teach me to do Your will in ALL I do.

So, with that as my prayer I asked for a word from Him.

Isaiah 51.

Okay, sure. No idea what it says or what it is about.

“The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look in compassion on all her ruins…”

How I need and crave that! Even if I don’t feel His comfort, I hold to His promise.

Both grief and ruins need His comfort, His compassion.

“Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the voice of song.”

I hold to His promise of joy and gladness, thanksgiving and song. There is no song in my heart today…at least not yet. But He promised! (Just maybe not today.)

Thank You, Jesus, that You have borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. Let me esteem You the more highly for Your suffering! It has bought me peace and healing, that’s why I am

Following Jesus every day in the everyday,

Christi
