The Third Day of Christmas

On the third day of Christmas my True Love gave to me… three witnesses.
As a follower of Jesus, I am ever in process…sometimes I look more like Jesus and sometimes much less. It is in those “less” times that I have doubts and questions about whether I am truly “born of God.” (See yesterday’s post.) It is then that I am especially thankful for His third gift to me.
In the courtroom of Heaven, there are three witnesses for the defense. (see 1 John 5:7-8)
The Spirit gives witness to our old hearts, to our flesh, that we are children of God, and we have been given new ones. (Romans 8:16). Without this, we would live in constant condemnation from our own selves.
The water of baptism is the witness to the world. In baptism we renounce our old patterns , not with our friends, nor earthly family, just with the dead way of living. Coming up out of the water represents being raised from the dead. We have the life of God in us
The blood of Jesus declares us “not guilty” before the judgement seat of Heaven. No plea bargain, no fines or sentences! The one who accuses has nothing to bring against us that will stand as evidence in that courtroom!
No matter how I feel, these three always declare the truth about me.
On the third day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me:
three witnesses
Old and new birth, and Himself wrapped in human flesh.
Merry Christmas!
