The Tenth Day of Christmas

On the tenth day of Christmas my True Love gave to me… ten filled commandments.
The Ten Commandments, the foundation of every just system of law, represents how God wants to be treated and how that treatment works itself out in our flesh-and-blood relationships.
Jesus taught that God’s intent for those commands went so much deeper than “don’t murder, and don’t sleep with someone else’s spouse.” His teaching lets us know that the rightness of God needs to have a transformative effect on our thoughts and intentions. He gave us an impossible task: Be as good as God is! This goes beyond keeping count of how many times we have robbed a bank or broken a speed limit…this reaches into every aspect of our being!
How can we do this?
Only by His work on our behalf: Jesus fulfilled every aspect of God’s commands, depending on the Holy Spirit constantly for guidance and the power to do as asked, even to the point of being guided and empowered to give up His life as the perfect satisfaction of God’s requirements. He fulfilled ALL the commands: the ones we might possibly keep track of, and the ones that involved the rituals of sacrifice and worship. He has fulfilled all the rightness and goodness required. And He offers it to us!
What a gift! Thank you, Jesus, for being God’s goodness for us!
On the tenth day of Christmas my True Love gave to me: ten filled commandments,
nine fruit of the Spirit, His pow’rful Name, seven-fold Spirit, six days of nature, five healing wounds, four gospels, three witnesses, old and new birth, and Himself wrapped in human flesh!
Merry Christmas!
