The Eleventh Day of Christmas

Published by christi on

On the eleventh day of Christmas my True Love gave to me… eleven risen meetings!

Our True Love who rose from the dead after dying as a pure, willing sacrifice for our sins expected skepticism regarding this resurrection, and provided ample evidence for it. Among the compelling body of reasons to believe in His life-after-death reality are the eleven separate recorded post-resurrection interactions with His friends and followers (and one enemy):

Mary Magdalene, who at first mistook the Risen Jesus for a gardener;

the disciples (Cleopas and one unnamed) on the road to Emmaus, who had a two-hour conversation with the resurrected Jesus before they recognized Him;

Simon Peter while he was alone, whose testimony bolstered the previous report;

the gathered Apostles and other disciples together (see two previous), minus Thomas;

a week later, this time including Thomas, though the doors to the room were locked!

seven of them on a fishing venture where Jesus unexpected shows up, miraculously fills their nets with fish and fixes them all breakfast;

the Eleven on a mountain in Galilee;

a gathering of 500 followers;

a special visit with His biological half-brother, James, which resulted in a big life-change for the sibling;

those who witnessed His ascension;

and last, but not least, He appeared to Saul, who became Paul the Apostle!

Reassurance of His resurrection! Evidence to hang our faith on! What a gift to us!

On the eleventh day of Christmas my True Love gave to me: eleven risen meetings,

ten filled commandments, nine fruit of the Spirit, His pow’rful Name, seven-fold Spirit, six days of nature, five healing wounds, four gospels, three witnesses, old and new birth, and Himself wrapped in human flesh!

Merry Christmas!
