Christmas Connections

The LORD is gracious and merciful,

slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

The LORD is good to all

and His mercy is over all that He has made.

All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD,

and Your saints shall bless You!

They shall speak of the glory of Your Kingdom

and tell of Your power,

to make known to the children of man Your mighty deeds

and the glorious splendor of Your Kingdom.

Your Kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

and Your dominion endures through all generations.

-Psalm 145:8-13a

Join me in this challenge:

  1. How many ways can you find that connect this psalm to the glorious event we are about to celebrate?

For example:  He made known to the children of man the mighty deed of God made flesh! That’s some serious might!

2. Explore with Him the ways in which Christmas defines the nature of His Kingdom.

For instance:  His mercy demonstrated to all He has made through the Redeemer entering the world so humbly. He could have come on the white horse with a sword, but His Kingdom mirrors its humble King. Show me how to get off my high horse and put down my sword to get in line with your humble, merciful kingdom!

3. Find the inexplicables, the puzzles we dismiss because we can’t wrap our minds around them, and worship Him for them!

Here’s one:  Inanimate things thank God? Whoa! How does that happen? I have a hard enough time thanking Him, and I have lungs and a mouth. You are amazing, God. Teach me to give thanks without words.

Think of it as a Christmas treasure hunt! Have fun with Him. Worship and adore Him. Play hide-and-seek with Him! May the blessings of Christmas be yours in abundance!

Following/Seeking Jesus every day in the everyday, even on Christmas!
