All Things Under His Feet

This morning I am especially thankful that Papa-God sent His Son in such an accessible package. it seems that this extended Christmas season has been more full of personal worship and adoration than any for a number of years. Especially now, with a new president, it is significant to place the White House ornaments at the feet of the Jesus figure. Hebrews tells us that
“[God] made [Jesus] for a little while lower than the angels; [and] crowned him with glory and honor, putting everything in subjection under his feet.” Hebrews 2:7
Papa-God has put ALL things under Jesus’ feet because He went so low, submitted to the authorities, voluntarily stripped Himself of all rights and privileges, identified with the lowest of the low in every aspect from before the time of His birth, being willingly subject to slander, gossip, curses, abuse, exposure, humiliation, torture, isolation, rejection, accusation, criminal charges and sentencing in a kangaroo court, and execution in the most brutal and inhumane manner possible…though what He deserved was honor, worship, blessing, exaltation, comfort, companionship, praise, and thanksgiving.
Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. Hebrews 2:8
Now is the time for faith, the “substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” to step up. In spite of the news reports that might tempt us to say, “All is lost!” we can say with confidence that nothing is outside His control! His word can be trusted (and cannot be rescinded by executive order!)!
I am stunned by the beauty of the humility of the Child in the Manger! He did not fret over the threats of Herod; He did not fear the mob of Nazareth; He stepped toward the clubs and torches that came for Him when the time came for Him to be arrested. He was steadfastly committed to trusting the Father’s care and submitting to the Father’s grand plan to rescue a bride, even though what was happening in front of His physical eyes looked nothing like a royal redemption.
So, as a follower, I pray, “Please grant me the ability to follow in Your footsteps, to focus on the goal and do whatever is required to finish it! Give me eyes to see the people (both in my immediate vicinity and the distant capitals) in my life as You see them, to believe what You say about them and walk with them joyfully into Your plan.”
Here I go
Following Jesus every day in the everyday,
Christi
